Children's Ministry

"Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." - Matthew 19:14

Vision and Mission
The Children’s Ministry aims to help parents to bring their children to know God, to love and worship Him, and provide an environment where they can experience a sense of belonging to God’s family, to grow in their relationship with Jesus, and eventually to share Christ with the world.

"Train a child in a way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6)

Through our programmes and activities, we aim to facilitate the children’s God-encounters, and work with parents to nurture and grow a joyful child, who lives in the knowledge of God’s love and presence in their lives, and responds with excitement and a desire to follow in the ways of Jesus.

Activities
The Children’s Ministry focuses on facilitating God-encounters for children aged 3 - 6 years old, through the following programmes:

(1) The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Catholic faith formation process for children aged 3 to 12 years, in which they experience and form an authentic, faithful relationship with God.

The Catechesis is grounded in scriptural and liturgical study, framed by Maria Montessori's principles of education. This allows children to hear the Gospel through the use of sensorial rich materials. The children are free to work with these materials that represent essential proclamations of the Catholic faith. For more information about CGS, please visit www.cgsas.org.

CGS at St. Anthony’s is currently held for children aged 3-6 years old, over 2 sessions on Saturdays. Places are limited and early enrolment is essential.

(2) Pre-Catechism Programme
The Pre-Cats is a classroom-based programme which aims to introduce children aged 3-6 years old to our Catholic faith. The sessions will explore key topics of our Catholic faith amongst them God’s Love, About Jesus, Common Prayer and Gestures and Giving Reverence. The programme aims to prepare and equip these young children with the necessary basic foundation that would help to develop their faith as they enter the mainstream Catechism classes.

(3) Miscellaneous Children’s Activities at Parish Events
The Children’s Ministry participates regularly at parish events such as Sunday canteen, St. Anthony’s Feast Day fun and food fair by organising activities such as face painting, wall-art painting and other arts and crafts activities which helps children express their faith and love for God.
