Gloria Patri

Vision
Facilitate God encounters for the people.

Mission
To be a powerful instrument to help people experience the presence of God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Ministry
The Gloria Patri Ministry was founded by Joseph Fernandez in 2004. We are a worship & healing ministry based in Singapore. Under the guidance of Fr. Terence Pereira, we have been ministering to parishioners in the Church of St. Anthony and in Singapore by proclaiming the Word of God, conducting praise & worship and healing services. Our ministry also assist in local and international retreats. We reach out to the needy through various projects and mission work.

The ministry is organised in the following sub-groups. There is an appointed member to lead each sub-group.

Intercessory
Every alternate Saturday, members come together to intercede for the intentions of all those who have asked for prayers and for the needs of the world.

Music
Members in this sub-group are part of a choir who meet once a fortnight to practice and prepare for the services. This includes selection of hymns appropriate for the event, music and song arrangement.

Outreach
The group reaches out on an ad hoc basis to people in need both locally and overseas. The leader is responsible to plan for overseas mission trips as well.

Preaching
Members may be identified to preach the Word of God at local or overseas venues. This team will also assist in conducting and organising retreats.

Media & Sound
The group is responsible to provide the audio and visual requirements to support all the ministry events.

Service & Hospitality
The team is responsible to ensure that participants at the Gloria Patri events feel welcome. For the purpose of the monthly mass and healing services, the team has the added responsibility to arrange for a priest to celebrate the mass and ensure all logistical needs for the mass are met.

Gift Shop
As part of efforts to evangelise, religious items are sold on occasion after the monthly mass and healing services.

Operations
This sub-group is responsible to ensure that the logistics required to support all aspects of the ministry events are met. This includes arranging of tables and chairs, arranging refreshments, set up and cleaning up after events.

Meetings

  • Meetings will be held once a month on Saturday. The secretary will inform all members about the date and venue of the meeting. Length of meeting will be based on the content of the agenda. Generally it will be for 2 hours.
  • Minutes of meeting are to be given to members at least 2 weeks before the meeting. Minutes of the meeting will be distributed to members by e-mail.
  • The agenda for the meeting is to be prepared and distributed one week ahead of the meeting.
  • Decisions will usually be reached by consensus. Where there is an impasse, the President will make the final decision.
  • All matters discussed at the meetings are confidential and should not be discussed amongst anyone outside of the ministry.
  • When a member is unable to attend a meeting, he/she is expected to notify the President or Vice President.

Major Activities

Mass & Healing Service
On the first Saturday of the month, the ministry organises a praise & worship, mass and healing service in St. Anthony’s church. It is held from 7 to 9.30 p.m. Pre-event activities for this service include an intercessory prayer session from 3 to 5 p.m. followed by set up of the auditorium and the coffee corner. After the service ends at 9.30 p.m. there is a fellowship with the people. All members are expected to clean up the area thereafter. Members would usually leave by 10.30 p.m.

Intercessory Prayer
Every alternate Saturday, we come together to intercede for the intentions of all those who have asked for prayers and for the needs of the world. Intercessory prayer sessions are usually held from 2.00 to 3.30 p.m. The prayer session will be led by the President. From time to time the President may appoint a member to lead in a particular session.

Monthly Meetings
All members are expected to attend the monthly meeting held on the 3rd Saturday of the month. The meeting usually last for about 2 hours. It starts at 3.30 p.m.

Community Fast
Every Friday members in the ministry fast one meal, usually lunch, offering this as a sacrifice for the intentions and petitions of the people.

Thanksgiving Celebration
Annually we organise a thanksgiving celebration. Together with the people, we thank God for the protection, love and blessings that He has showered upon us. This celebration is held annually following the mass and healing service in the month of December.
